univation® X system

The univation® X system is a unicondylar knee system with a fixed or mobile platform to treat medial knee gonarthrosis. The system offers streamlined, user-friendly instruments to optimize surgical time and allow for intra-operative flexibility (1). The goal of development for the univation® X system was a modern implant design as well as easy to use instruments. In addition to the cobalt chromium version, all components are also available in the Advance Surface technology. The Advanced Surface coating, used successfully since 2007, has a seven-layer architecture to offer several advantages. The very hard ceramic surface reduces wear (2,3). At the same time, five intermediate layers reduce the release of metal ions up to 98 % as an approach towards preventing allergic reactions (4).
